Welcome to A Natural Slice of Life, a blog about living in the sandwich generation while trying not to lose myself in the mix.
My name is Stephanie, and I am a single mama trying to live a more natural life while
caring for both special needs kiddos and a special needs parent. Add in my
college life and you get a fun mix. Life gets interesting at best, chaotic at
worst but I still push through. I’m inspired by minimalism and mindful living,
and I strive for both. I follow a peaceful parenting model with my children.
I have two amazing children who both have their own unique
challenges. My son is a sensory kid and struggles daily but is an amazing kid
none the less. My daughter was born with an extremely rare genetic disorder and
is blind with many health concerns but she is so resilient and spunky. I also
recently started caring for my mom, who has Parkinson’s disease and we are still figuring out our daily life together. Each day is a challenge waiting for us to take a bite.
Here I will share my life’s journey through all the
obstacles ahead. I plan to share information about Parkinson’s disease, WAGR
syndrome, and sensory issues as well as green living, stream-lining the
household, decluttering, motherhood, kids’ activities, and any other bridge we
must cross along the way. It won’t be easy but it won’t be boring either. So,
come along and try a bite out of this sandwich I call life.
